Workspace
The workspace groups your Search, Reading, and Reading Tracker tabs under a single header.
Logo Menu
Click the Bible Index logo, title, or chevron to open the menu:
- Actions — action palette
- Application settings — opens the Settings window (Settings)
- Help
- User guide — opens this guide in the browser
- Keyboard shortcuts — the shortcut list (Keyboard Shortcuts)
- Replay tour — restarts the desktop workspace intro (First visit)
- About — version, updates, and licenses
- Quit — closes the app
The Use System Title Bar option toggles between the built-in header (default) and the system title bar above the tabs. The permanent setting is configured in General.
Action palette
Press Ctrl+K (Command+K on Mac) or choose Actions in the logo menu. Type to filter the list. Use Up and Down to move, Right to open a group, Left or Back to return, Enter to run the highlighted command, and Esc to close. Running a command closes any other open window first (for example Settings or About).
Commands mirror other parts of the app:
- New tab — same choices as the + button (Tabs)
- Application settings — Settings
- Keyboard shortcuts — Keyboard Shortcuts
- About this Bible — when Search or Reading has an active edition (Reading)
- User guide — same as Help → User guide above
- Replay tour — same as Help → Replay tour (First visit)
First visit
On the first desktop launch, a short tour highlights the logo menu, the + button, the three tab types, and which tab opens at startup. Use Help → Replay tour in the logo menu to see it again.
Tabs
Tabs share the header. If there are too many tabs to fit within the window’s width, arrow buttons allow you to scroll through the tab bar.
- The + button opens Choose Tab Type: New Search, Read a Passage, or Reading Tracker
- A tab’s menu includes the option Close Other Tabs
- Each tab can be closed individually
Keyboard Shortcuts
The full list, including search and results, is in Keyboard Shortcuts. Tab shortcuts use Ctrl on Windows and Linux and Command on Mac.
